This is a premier soul and jazz album, with occasional superb duets, for example the soulful with fuzzed guitar solo and guest Gregory Porter of Satiated [Been Waiting] – now there’s a match made in whatever divine place rocks your religion – and also covers of both Fleetwood Mac’s Dreams and Bob Marley’s Waiting in Vain, this latter version as brightly produced as the album’s cover and so it may not appeal to those precious about the song’s reggae roots. Ani DeFranco’s 32 Flavors gets a funky rendition, Reeves vocal able to move from lush to spunk to scat across an album of class.
