Gretchen Peters - The Night You Wrote That Song: The Songs of Mickey Newbury, album review

It's Certain

In this current c-world it is hard to be certain about anything other than anxiety and fear, but there is at least this certainty within all of that: Gretchen Peters singing Mickey Newbury will be a haven of perfection, a calm in the musical sphere that matches past and present. It is all good - all of it - but if I must pick one it will be the poignantly beautiful lament of Frisco Depot.

I got to see Gretchen Peters play live once here in the UK; I have a small collection of original Mickey Newbury albums. Just saying.
