Santana - Blessings and Miracles, album review
Familiar Blessings
The Supernatural formula gets reset again (having gone through variations since that 1999 Carlos with Guests sensation) so that here on Blessings and Miracles we range from She’s Fire with Diane Warren and G-Eazy to Steve Winwood on A Whiter Shade of Pale, songs and performers spanning the years in tandem. At the core is Carlos and guitar: signature writ large. Powerhouse vocals come from the same broad spectrum, from Corey Glover on Peace Power to Chris Stapleton on Joy. No surprises, just sustained energy with plenty of wah-wah and other guitar noise that takes us wonderfully back to its beginnings, as is always the case with these recordings. America for Sale with Kirk Hammett is just so obviously heavy – and the guitars are ‘played’ old-school across the stereo speakers!!
