Rhiannon Giddens - Tomorrow Is My Turn, album review

RG

As one would expect, excellent vocal prowess from the Carolina Chocolate Drops singer, and a rootsy, authentic range of songs and production from T Bone Burnett. Giddens' vocal strength is showcased through Blues to Country, from the worksong Waterboy to Dolly Parton's Don't Let It Trouble Your Mind and a crisp version of Patsy Cline's She's Got You. There's rockabilly gospel with Up Above My Head and then there is the beautiful title-track ballad, Nina Simone's Tomorrow Is My Turn. Rousing and gorgeous.
