Monophonics - Sound of Sinning, album review

Soul Summer

Just one month under three years ago and the sun had obviously been elusive – a little like last week when I was in the Lakes and the rest of the country south of this was basking – and the Monophonics’ debut introduced some musical summer into the dullness.

Back home now and into April’s sunshine, their sophomore album continues that warm disposition, though it is more steadily soul infused rather than psychedelic or funk. This is a smoother recline in the lounger, the harmonies and horns layering the patio with sounds of the soul-suspiring sixties and seventies.

  1. Well, thank goodness that's over!
And - just to be pedantic - that's a bloody scooter not a motortbike.

  2. Thanks for stopping by Pedant P! You of course spotted the 'anachronism' I had indicated, so not technically a pedantic discovery!

    Trust the jam spread nicely....
