Sweet Stavin Chain - Stormy Monday Blues
Highs and lows
Just listening to Sweet Stavin Chain's cover of 'Stormy Monday Blues' and I have discovered that the great sax solo is by King Curtis.
Have been planning another compilation and this will have a worthy place. Saw on another blog from someone with infinitely more knowledge then me a massive compilation of this song. Respect. Another addict. But this wasn't on it!
But talk about oxymoron - the track that follows 'SMB' on this album is 'Teddy Bear's Picnic' with a chipmunk contribution. Absolute crap. Actually, worse than that.

just to let you know King Curtis was a fan of the band and wanted to do this with them. And yes it is stated on the back of the album . And it is an awesome rendition of Teddy Bears Picnic . Danny Strobin did and awsome job and this song was applauded with standing ovation every time it was done. If you ever saw them in person you would you would change your mind but obviously you had not. Just sayin I was at every concert they played .... as the wife of Big John Bussell.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by Joann, and thank you for your calm, controlled response to my harsher judgement about 'Teddy Bears' Picnic'! I can certainly concede that this might be much more fun live, but also out of respect for your having been there on a number of occasions, I defer again to your opinion. It must have been great times! I've watched some Big John videos tonight: what a guy.
