Queen Rock Montreal, Flu Jab, Digging the Graden

Catalyst

So, in the order of this cause and effect, I watched a bit of Queen playing live in Montreal on Sky Arts last night - dipping in and out - and it's a brilliant show: really Freddie's show, and perhaps it always was, accepting the brilliant guitar of Brian May [who delivers one of those great looped solos - he is one of the greats, come on] and John Deacon plays wonderful complex bass lines at times and Roger Taylor is crucial with his vocals too, but even at the end Brian May is pointing at and applauding Freddie because it really was his show.

Then today I get a letter from the local health centre stating that my doctor feels I should have a flu jab. Well, it's a pro forma letter and I'm not convinced my doctor knows anything about it, so what has prompted this? My age? That's fighting talk. I may be retired, but that was early retirement! I haven't reached retirement age, yet.

Now, it's that time of year to get the garden dug, always if possible before Christmas and to catch the first frosts so they can break the soil down naturally. I have written before on this blog about this annual event of digging and listening to music. It normally takes two to three days to turn it all over. But not today! Tell me I need a flu jab indeed. So I transferred my audio recording of Queen Rock Montreal to my mp3 and went out there and dug that whole fucking garden today, me and Freddie and Brian and John and Roger, and no fucking flu jab needed in this glorious effort and completion.

Flu jab? Fuck off. It's just me and the music.

  1. Did you use your spade as an air guitar and do a bit of Brian May-ing when taking breaks from the digging? He he...

  2. Honest response? I used a rake when taking a 'rest' in the digging!

  4. You'll be sorry in the morning! Hope the back holds out after 3 days digging in one day - hope you had Crowded House on your phones too.

  5. Hello BB, good of you to drop the sack for a mo and heave yourself over for a visit. Back still seems OK - I'll probably have a light sneeze and throw it for weeks! And you've thrown me with the Crowded House ref. - I'll have to think on that one. Have a good weekend.
